We’re searching for the 100 best programs for Windows Vista – and we need your help!

In our October 2008 issue we will be compiling a list of the 100 best pieces of software which power up Windows Vista. These are the pieces of software you would never run Windows without, which make a difference to your everyday life and that you would recommend to all other readers.

We want to hear your ideas to make sure no stone goes unturned and no program is left out. This is a great opportunity for the Windows Vista Magazine community to share the combined experiences and knowledge that help make this one of the most diverse magazines on the market.

Microsoft Office 2007, with OneNote 2007. I use Outlook constantly, and I use OneNote for keeping track of all sorts of information. Wihtout those two programs, I'd be hard-pressed to function. //Steve//

Opera - fast, feature-rich browser.

Diskeeper 2008 - The best defragmenter. Keeps all my drives performing at their best.

VLC player - the swiss knife of audio/video players

AVG Free- excellent anti-virus.

MS Office.

Corel Word Perfect - it out performs Word at every turn except one and this is only when copying web pages. In this case word is definitely better. For all other uses Word perfect is tops. Try it and be suprised.

AVG, saved my computer from dying
Windows Live Messenger, Talk to my friends when they're on holiday
Paint.NET, Free advanced photo editing, much better than MSPaint
Microsoft Office 2007, even though I can't afford it, it is a very useful piece of software
FireFox 3, very fast loading pages even on a weak wireless signal
Windows Live Mail, very quick at retrieving messages
AVG SafeSearch, see what sites are safe and what are not, comes bundled with AVG Anti-Virus Free
Nokia PC Suite, though there are some bugs with Vista and Nokia PC Suite It's still worth using if you have a Nokia Phone
CCleaner, clears out rubbish from my laptop

NOD32, Office 2007, Foxit pdf reader, CCleaner, SpywareBlaster, Tune-Up Utilities are the minimum must-haves. If the need for a 3rd party anti-spy arises then a-squared anti-malware.

Windows Vista 64 bit, Norton 360, open office.org its free just as good as word. APC ups system-would not be with out one. Saved me lots of times. Nikon D60 digital camera and software. MS media player. NASA TV live feed. M.I.T.'s web site. Zino reader for M.I.T. Mag. Check it out it's cool.
